Don B. Mills

Don B. Mills, 96 of Portsmouth, RI passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013.Born on June 21, 1917 in Salt Lake City, UT, to the late Carl and Ethel (Banks) Mills.Don grew up in California and entered the US Navy in World War II. His engineering expertise was utilized by the Navy in the Brooklyn Shipyard during the War. He met his first wife Ann while stationed in New York, and after his service to the Navy, they moved to California. He worked as a Hydro engineer for Pacific Gas and Electric Company for his entire career.In 1988, moved to Portsmouth and became an active member of St. Barnabas Church, the Portsmouth Multipurpose Senior Center, where he sang in the Senior Choir, and was a co-founder and treasurer of the Motivated Pilgrims Investment Club for 20 years. He was also a longtime member and treasurer of the Portsmouth Republican Town Committee.He is survived by his daughter Lois Helbert and her husband Bruce of Sammamish, WA, his nephews Patricia Scudder and her husband Walter of Assonet, MA and Robert Obara and his wife Patricia of Portsmouth, RI and great nieces and nephews Amy O'Connor, Jeffrey Scudder, Katherine Obara, Scott Obara, Michael Obara, and Susan Flachsbart.He was predeceased by his first wife Ann (Knoth) Mills and his second wife Wanda (Buianowski) Mills.Visitation hours will be held on Sunday, July 14 from 2:00-5:00p.m., at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.His funeral will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013, at 10:00a.m., in the St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore BlvdEast Providence, RI 02914.
