Donald C. Reid

Newport, RI - Donald C. Reid, 78, of 70 Harrison Avenue Newport, RI, formerly of 5 Rolling Green and Warner Street, Newport, RI, died Monday, December 8, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Betty Anne Lawton Reid. Born in Biloxi, MS on June 18, 1925, he was the son of the late King David and Ruth Mae Wilks Reid. Mr. Reid was in the United States Navy. After retiring from the Navy he worked for the Newport Shipyard on Thames Street for many years. Besides his wife he is survived by his son James Lawton of Newport, RI, his daughters Dorothy Thomas of Norfolk, VA, Frances Heath, of Norwood, MA, and Betty Martin of Jacksonville, FL, eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2003, at 9:30 AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter RI.
