Portsmouth, - Donald E. Beverly, 63, of 13 Second Street Portsmouth, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Rhode Island Hospital Providence, RI.He was the husband of Nancy Riley Beverly. Born in Davy, West Virginia on October 23, 1939, he was the son of Blanch Bowman Beverly of Newberry, FL and the late Cap Beverly.Mr. Beverly was a retired United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant, a Vietnam Veteran who served for 20 years receiving numerous service medals and personal awards. Sgt. Beverlys duty stations included Parris Island, SC, Camp Lejune, NC, Camp Pendelton, CA nad Pearl Harbor, HI, and he retired in September of 1976 from his last assignment in New Hampshire. After his military service he was head of security for Pearson Yachts, he worked security at NUSC, and in maintenance at the Newport Daily News. Besides his wife of 42 years and his mother he is survived by his son Thomas Beverly of Portsmouth, RI, two daughters Lisa Dugan of Beaufort, SC, and Kimberly Colicci of Morgan City, LA, three grandchildren Meagan Dugan and Kp Dugan both of Beaufort, SC, and Nicholas Colicci of Morgan City, LA, his sister Rosemary Cox of FL, and three brothers Jerry Beverly of FL, Eddie Beverly of West Warwick, RI, and Danny Beverly of VA. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport Bristol Counties, PO Box 690, Portsmouth, RI 02871. Burial services will be at a later date.
