Donald James Devol

Donald J. Devol, 73, of Newport died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at home in Newport, surrounded by his family.Born June 23, 1939 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Cathleen (Donnelly) Devol. He was the husband of the late Doris "Dot" (Dow) Devol. Don first worked at the Newport Hospital in the laundry room in the 1960s. He then worked as a mechanic at Sears from 1968 to1993, then continued at Kent's Alignment for several years, retiring in 2010.He is survived by his daughters Velvet Coite and her husband Jim of Newport, RI, and Tammie Turner and her husband Frank of North Charleston, SC, his sister in law Ann Devol of Leonia, NJ, his grandchildren, Jerome, Frankie, Joey, Grace, his niece Peggy Lama of Middletown, RI his nephew Frederick Gonsalves of Tiverton, RI and his niece Doris Cole of Texas City, TX.He was the brother of the late Russell Devol. Calling hours will be held on, Friday, January 18, 2013, from 6:00-8:00pm, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. His burial will be private.
