Tiverton, RI - Donald James Winning, 62, of Seaconnet Avenue, Tiverton, RI, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at St. Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, MA. He was the husband of Nancy R. Sisson Winning.Born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 26, 1947, he was the son of Bertha Knobel Winning of Pittsburgh, PA and the late James Winning.Mr. Winning served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan and enjoyed attending classic car shows. He was a former umpire-in-chief, coach and member of the board directors for the Tiverton Little League and a former coach of the Portsmouth Little League. Besides his wife of 38 years and his mother, he is survived by a son, James P. Winning, a daughter, Carrie A. Winning, both of Tiverton, RI, a brother, Dale Winning of Pittsburgh, PA, a sister, Kathy McChesney of Zelienople, PA, his dog, Max, and his grand-dog, Sophie. His funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10 am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.
