Donald Peckham

Middletown, RI - Donald Francis Peckham, 78, of 43 Bay View Park, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Constance Eileen Simmons Peckham. Born in Newport, RI on June 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Leroy and Charlotte Louise Dorstrom Peckham.Mr. Peckham served in the US Marines Corp Reserves and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Peckham had been involved with the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed camping and bowling. Besides his wife of 38 years, he is survived by his children, Robert Lloyd Peckham and his wife, Donna, of Jamestown, RI, David Scott Peckham and his wife, Jennifer, of Sauslito, CA, Donna Marie Ruhle and her husband, Philip, of North Kingstown, RI, and Deborah Simmons and her husband, Terrance, of Newport, RI, his brother, Leroy W. Peckham, Jr. and his wife, Gladys, of Bradenton, FL, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.He was the step father of the late Raymond F. King, III. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 12:00 noon in Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, Newport. Burial with Military Honors will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 2, 2007 from 4-7 pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, ?Brick House?, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport.Donations in his memory may be made to the Village House Nursing Center, Special Care Unit, 70 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
