Donald Peter Schlip, Sr

Portsmouth, RI - Donald P. Schlip, Sr., 73, of, Portsmouth, entered into eternal life on July 23, 2011 at home surrounded by loving family and friends.He was the loving husband of 53 years of Mary Lou Watson Schlip.Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Martin and Catherine Schlip, and was predeceased by his brother Martin; he is survived by his sister Barbara Schlip Lock.Don served in the USMC for eight years, and was a Portsmouth police officer for seven years. He was also employed at Raytheon, Transcom and General Physics. Don was a member of St. Barnabas Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a Grand Knight, Rooney Council 3618, of the Knights of Columbus.He was the loving father of Donald P. Schlip , Thomas M. Schlip and Patricia A. Schlip Colson; the beloved grandfather of ten grandchildren: Ryan, Joel, Chad, Drew and Kain Schlip and Louise Pelletier, Marcus Schlip, Danielle and Evan Bouchard and Mark Colson; as well as great grandfather of three great grandchildren.
