Middletown, RI - Donald Renehan, 75, of 8 Pocono Road, Middletown, RI, died Monday, November 20, 2006 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Barbara Motte Renehan. Born in Providence, RI on June 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Edmund and Anna Murphy Renehan.Mr. Renehan was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1953, and very active with the Alumni. He was also a Graduate of LaSalle, Class of 1949. He was a Vice President of Bank Newport for 17 years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Renehan was a communicant of St. Lucys Church, and served as a former lector. He volunteered at the Newport Hospital for many years, was a former president of the Middletown Lions Club, a member of the Navy League of the United States, where he also served as National Director and Past President. He was a member of the commissioning ceremonies for the USS Normandy, the USS Chafee, and the USS Rhode Island. He was also a member of the Newport Hospital Auxiliary. Mr. Renehan had been the recipient of the Diamond Torch Award on the 75th Anniversary of Providence College. Besides his wife of 49 years, he is survived by his son Stephen M. Renehan and his wife Alexa of Pascoag, RI, his daughter Dr. Gail E. Renehan of Laguna Niguel, CA, his brother Edmund Renehan of Ocala, FL, and his sisters Claire Renehan of Portsmouth, RI, Patricia Daley of Huntington, CT, and Kathleen Gilligan of Arlington, MA His funeral will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006 at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2006 from 4-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
