Newport, - Donald Richard Terpening, 64, of 10 Lincoln Street Newport, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Carol A. Gemmel Terpening. Born in Newport, RI on June 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Becker Terpening.Mr. Terpening did volunteer work for St. Pauls Thrift Shop and the former St. Pauls Priory on Narragansett Avenue. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed talking on the CB radio his handle being ?Wine Maker?, and he also enjoyed playing Billiards. He is survived by three sons Donald Terpening Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Dwayne Terpening and Daren Terpening both of Newport, RI, two daughters Donna A. Bettencourt of Davie, FL, and Darlene Terpening of Tiverton, RI, three brothers Albert Terpening of Las Vegas, NV, William Terpening of Newport, RI, and Allen Terpening of Pawtucket, RI, and thirteen grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Joseph Silvester, Edward Terpening and Lillian Caron. His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2003, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport.
