Newport, RI - Doris A. Nasser Steinhouse, 68, of Clinton Avenue, Newport, RI, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in Tiverton, RI with her family by her side. Born in Newport, RI on February 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Nasser and Helene Wallbank Matheus. She was the companion of Benjamin Lewis of Tiverton, RI for over 30 years.Ms. Steinhouse was the owner of the former Dirty Harrys Laundry in Middletown and Little Compton Cleaners in Little Compton, and was the former owner of Cleanorama in Tiverton before retiring in 2007. She was an avid bingo player, a former bowler, and she enjoyed sewing, her work and also spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a former member of the Retreads and the New England Vikings. She is survived by her children, Barbara A. Sangeado and her husband Fernando of Newport, RI, Karen M. Downes and her husband Thomas of Middletown, RI, Susan A. Logan and her fianc Alan Neal of Middletown, RI, Michael L. Steinhouse and his wife Kori of Bristol, RI, Robert J. Steinhouse of Fall River, MA and Mary H. Steinhouse of Newport, RI, her brothers and sisters Kenneth Nasser of Florida, Marie Hayes of Ohio, Arlene Macomber of Florida, Joseph Mathews of Middletown, RI, and Deborah Seyster of Middletown, RI, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2 pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 11 am-3 pm in the funeral home.Burial will be private.
