Doris Lang Offersen

Middletown, RI - Doris Lang (Lewitsky) Offersen, 91, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Forest Farm Nursing Home in Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Robert Stevens Offersen for 65 years and sister of the late Helen Radomsky. Born in Chicago, IL on December 11, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Lewitskey, recent immigrants from the Ukraine. Mrs. Offersen was trained as a registered nurse in Chicago, IL and worked as a nurse until marrying her childhood sweetheart in January 1945. She moved around the US with her career Navy husband before settling in Middletown, RI in 1955. Her passions were singing with the Swanhurst Choral Society and St. Lucy's Church Choir, bowling with the CPO wives, calligraphy, astrology and her children. She is survived by her sons Charles, Phoenixville, PA; Robert, of Summerville, SC; and John of Santa Fe, NM, her grandson David, and great grandson Dylan of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by several dear nieces and nephews. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 2-4 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Cremation will follow. Inurnment committal prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 9 am in Newport Memorial Park, Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown, RI.
