Portsmouth, RI - Dorothea Marie Beyer Lendrum, 86, of 10 Johnny Cake Lane, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of West Narragansett Avenue, Newport, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at home with her family nearby. She was the wife of the late Edward William Lendrum. Born in Newport, RI on June 27, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Walsh Beyer. She was orphaned as an infant and was raised by her maternal aunt, Della Walsh Rockwell Novine. She was a native of Newport?s Fifth Ward, residing there until 1996.Mrs. Lendrum was a former member of St. Augustin?s Church and attended school there. During WWII she and her cousin, Marion Galvin were greatful to be employed by Addison?s putting tax stamps on cigarette packs. She was one of the original 10 women employed in 1948 by General Electric Monowatt Division now known as the Perry Mill Complex. She loved to dance as a young lady to the Big Band music and was known to be an avid archer. But most of all she loved her home and times spent with her family. She is survived by her sons and daughter in-law John Pamela Lendrum of Portsmouth, RI and Donald Winland of Warren, RI, her grandsons, Adam N. Lendrum of Bremerton of WA, Kenneth Winland of Warren, RI and Nathan D. Winland of Boynton Beach FL. She was the sister of the late Walter ?Bob? Rockwell, Donald Novine and Beverly Novine Broome.
