Dorothy Bernice Gage

Dorothy "Bernice" (Smith) Gage, 91, formerly of Bayview Park, Middletown and Everett Street, Newport, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late John Gage.Born in Newport, RI on February 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Holden) Smith.Mrs. Gage worked at General Electric for 36 years before retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Middletown Senior Center, the Portsmouth Senior Center, the Edward King House, the Aquidneck Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and United Baptist Church. She enjoyed Search-A-Word puzzles, the beach and playing Bingo. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.She is survived by her son, George A. Jones and his wife Regina of Newport, RI; grandchildren, Kristine, Megan and Katie Jones; and great-grandchildren Aliyah and Julien Jones. She was the sister of the late Edward and Albert Smith, and Margaret Cottrell and Geraldine Kelly.Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11 am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, Portsmouth, RI. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 9-11 am in the funeral home prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Activities Fund, 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
