Dorothy "Dot" Maddren

Dorothy M. Maddren, 86, of Narragansett, RI and formerly of Portsmouth, RI, passed away on February 11, 2013 at home. She was born in Providence, RI on January 1, 1927 the daughter of the late Herbert and Beatrice (Rule) Maddren. She retired in 1992 from her position of Director of the Rhode Island Hospital Nursing School. Prior to her employment at Rhode Island Hospital, she was a nun with the order of The Sisters of Our Lady of Providence. She was a graduate of Pembrook and NYU, where she received her Masters in Nursing.Dot was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Church in Portsmouth and served on the Parish Council. She travelled the world and across the US, and also loved animals.She is survived by a brother, Herbert Maddren of New Jersey and was aunt to 8 and great aunt to 9. She was also the sister of the late Beatrice Amos, E. Grace Hey, and William Maddren.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 15 at 10:00 am in St. Anthony's Church, East Main Rd, Portsmouth. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.Flowers are respectfully omitted.
