NEWPORT, RI - Dorothy G. Murphy James, 73, of 38 Dudley Avenue, and formerly of Rolling Green, Newport, RI, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Willard James. Born in Newport, RI on February 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Sargent Murphy.Dorothy graduated from St. Catherine?s in Newport. She worked for over 20 years at the Newport Public Library as a librarian aid. She was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children Michael F. James and his wife Deborah of Newport, RI, and Deborah M. Janise and her husband Alton-Frank of Newport, RI, her siblings Henry Murphy and John Murphy both of Newport, RI, her sister in Law Margaret Murphy of Connecticut, her grandchildren David James of Providence, RI, Michael James Jr. of Ohio, Matthew Decker of Newport, RI, and Jennifer Jackson of Maryland and her great grandchildren Jessica James of Ohio and Felicity Jackson of Maryland. She was the sister of the late Howard Murphy and Mary Gilchrest.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
