Middletown, RI - Dorothy Lily Nelson Henrie, 100, of 600 Valley Road, Middletown, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Newport, RI, died Thursday, August 26, 2004, after a brief illness at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Edwin Hunterson Henrie and the late Maxwell Falconer MacNally. Born in Hartford, CT on February 6, 1904, she was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Hosmer Nelson.Mrs. Henrie graduated from St. Margarets-McTernan school for girls in 1922. She attended Syracuse University and Columbia University with majors in journalism and drama. Mrs. Henrie opened her own millinery shop and had stores in Lansdowne, PA, Philadelphia, PA and Wynwood, PA. She moved to Newport in the early 1970s, and in 1989 she moved to John Clarke Retirement Center in Middletown. In spite of multiple disabilities, she enjoyed playing bridge weekly and remained in touch with current events. She is survived by her stepson and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Henrie of Swansboro, NC, her daughter in-law Elizabeth MacNally of Hinsdale, IL, four grandchildren Robert F. MacNally III of Nashua, NH, Susan E. MacNally of Lawrence, KS, Anne M. Goto of Hamden, CT, and William N. MacNally of Reading, MA, six stepgrandchildren Kathleen H. Ross of Basking Ridge, NJ, Edwin H. Henrie II of Lexington, MA, J. Winsor Baker of Thomaston, ME, Daintria McClure of Westboro, MA, Wendy Scott of Syracuse, NY and Richard Baker of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by four great grandchildren and twelve stepgreat grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Robert F. MacNally.A Memorial service in her honor will be announced at a later date.Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
