Dorothy M. Lavoie

Tiverton, RI - Dorothy M. Lavoie, of 75 East Beardsworth Road, Tiverton, RI, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at home. She was the wife of Omer Lavoie of Tiverton, RI. Born in Middletown, RI on March 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Clara Soares Gomes.Mrs. Lavoie was a seamstress for many Fall River Garment Worker factories. She grew up in Middletown and also lived in Portsmouth, RI before moving to Tiverton, RI. Mrs. Lavoie was co-owner of the Chocolate Works in New Bedford, MA for 20 years and retired in 2000. She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her husband she is survived by her son Lewis Cordeiro of Tiverton, RI, her daughter Cynthia Ramos of Pompano Beach, FL, three brothers John Gomes of Middletown, RI, Raymond Gomes and William Gomes both of Portsmouth, RI, her sister Lorraine Santos of Portsmouth, and her two grandsons Lewis Cordeiro Jr. and William J. Cordeiro both of Tiverton, RI. She was the sister of the late Eleanor Keeling. Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 5, 2007, at 10:00am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Monday morning 8-10am in the Connors Funeral Home.
