Dorothy Manchester Sacrey

Dorothy Sacrey Middletown, RI - Dorothy Sacrey, formerly Dorothy Friend, 93, formerly of 99 Spring Street, Newport, died on Friday December 11, 2009 at Forest Farm Nursing home in Middletown, R.I. She was the wife of the late William M. Sacrey, Jr. Born in Newport, RI on January 24, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Moulton and Elsie Dube Friend.After graduating from Rogers High School in Newport, Dorothy went to college at Lasell College on Commonwealth Avenue in Newton, MA in suburban Boston. The two year program secured a certificate upon graduation as a dietician. She did not work in that field very long as she preferred working with well people as she put it. After having her first son she held a variety of positions as a doctors receptionist, sales person and retail sales manager before retiring from the former Lees Century Story in downtown Newport. She is survived by her sons John F. Sacrey of Preston, CT, William Sacrey, III of Grasonville, MD and Patrick M. Sacrey of Belmont, NH, her brother Thomas Friend of Newport, RI, her sister Jean Brown of Newport, RI, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late John Friend. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 1 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.Calling hours are omitted.
