Warren, RI ? Dorothy Mello Rego, 76, of 1653 West Main Road, Middletown, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Haven Health Care Center, Warren, RI. She was the wife of Joseph Rego. Born in Portsmouth, RI on March 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Emelia Garcia Mello.Mrs. Rego worked with her husband over the years helping to run their business Rego Gifford. She was a great cook and was always willing to offer a meal to anyone. Mrs. Rego was dedicated to her family, taking care of her father at home, her daughters and then her grandchildren. Besides her husband of 49 years, she is survived by her daughters Emilia Neves and Catherine Violet both of Middletown, RI, her sisters Agnes Marques of Coventry, RI, Emily Lacerda of Portsmouth, RI, and Mary D. Clarke of Newport, RI, her grandchildren, Heather Kielbasa, Henry Gifford, Rachel Gifford, Jordan Neves, Jessica Violet and Stephen Violet, and her great granddaughter Matison Slagle. She was the sister of the late Manuel Mello, Anthony Mello, Philomena F. Dorato and Eleanor Anctil. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at 10:00am, in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007, from 5-8pm in the funeral home.
