Middletown, - Dorothy Wiedman Roddy, 100, of 333 Green End Avenue Middletown, RI formerly of Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth, Rhode Island and Halifax, Vermont, died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI.. She was the wife of the late Mr. T. Duane Roddy. Born in Newark, New Jersey on December 1, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Eugene A. and Antoinette Miller Wiedman. Mrs. Roddy was employed by Parke Davis Pharmaceuticals in New York City, New York before her marriage in 1922 where she and her husband resided in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Dorothy was an avid golf enthusiast and was a member of the Cedar Ridge Country Club in Livingston, NJ. Mrs.Roddy and her husband moved to Halifax, Vermont upon his retirement as the President of the Berkshire Woolen Mills of Massachusetts in 1948 . Mrs. Roddy enjoyed playing bridge and scrabble, and even on her 99th birthday she played a good game of scrabble. She also enjoyed her ? Victory Garden? at her home in Halifax, VT. She was an avid member of the Halifax Historical Society , Halifax Community Club, and the Halifax Union Society of Halifax, Vermont.. She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Dorothy Roddy Hirsch of Middletown, RI, and her granddaughters, Dorothy Post of Marthas Vineyard, MA, Elizabeth M Adams of West Barnstable, MA, and her Great Granddaughter, Oona Tempest Post of Marthas Vineyard, MA. She is preceded in death by her sister Bertha Wiedman and her brother George Wiedman. Cremation will be in Atlantic Cremation Service in Portsmouth, RI.Donations in her memory may be made to the Halifax Fire Department Halifax Vermont 05358
