Earl Raymond White, Jr

Tiverton, RI - Earl Raymond White, Jr., 84, of 23 Riverview Avenue, Tiverton, RI, died on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Heatherwood Health Care Center, 398 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI.He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie Mercedes Mickey Gockley White. Born in Fall River, MA on November 11, 1925, he was the son of the late Earl Raymond White, Sr. and Evelyn Homan Howell White.Earl graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the US Army. He served in the European Theater during WWII in the 464th Bomb Group as a Radar Mechanic and was discharged in 1946. Upon discharge he married Marie and began a family. Earl worked for 22 years in a civil service career with Naval Supply Center in Boston and Norfolk, VA. He then worked as a security guard on Goat Island for 20 years. Mr. White was an avid gardener. He is survived by four daughters: Karen M. White of Springfield, MA, Marilyn L. Flannigan of Oscoda, MI, Diane L. Lundgren of Santa Barbara, CA, and Marcia A. White of Tiverton, RI; five sons: Russell S. White of Warwick, RI, Calvin E. White of Brockton, MA, Dean B. White Whitman, MA, Michael J. White of Carlisle, PA, and Keith S. White of Chesapeake, VA, twenty one dear grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.He was the father of the late Michelle S. White. His funeral will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 11:00am, in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Pocassett Hill Cemetery in Tiverton.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010, from 3-6, in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Alzheimers Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
