Eddie Ruth Armstrong

Newport, RI - Eddie Ruth James Armstrong, 79, of Walnut Street, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.She was the wife of the late William Armstrong. Born in Bethel, SC on September 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ealop and Matilda Anderson James.Mrs. Armstrong worked for over 30 years on the Newport Naval Base as a store manager in the Navy PX. She was an avid member of the Community Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary in Middletown. She is survived by her son, Ron James and his wife Vicki Mabray James of Providence, RI, her grandson, Derek V. Mabray Lisa Martinelli; her great-grandchildren, Morgan Olivia Mabray and Elijah Maximus Mabray; and her nephews, Robert Lee James and his wife Anita, David James and Alvin James, all of Knoxville, TN. She was the mother of the late Sharon Corriander.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 10-11am in the Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport, RI. Her funeral will follow at 11am in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
