Middletown, RI - Edith C. Closson Wright, 89, of 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Frederick Wright. Born in Mt. Desert Island, ME on April 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mae Miraldes Closson.Mrs. Wright grew up in Maine and in 1941 married Frederick and moved to Newport. For many years she worked at the lunch counter at Woolworths. She was a very talented crafter and loved sewing clothes and playing bingo. Edith was a member of the Park Holm Senior Center, a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and the RI Vets Home Auxiliary in Bristol. Mrs. Wright was a life member and past president of the VFW post 4487 ladies Auxiliary in Middletown. She is survived by her children, Charles Wright and his wife Ann of Newport, RI, Frances DeSilvia and her husband Manuel of Riverside, CA and Vilma Parsonage and her husband John of Middletown, RI, her sister of Priscilla Pearson of North Carolina, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Charles Closson, Fred Closson and Archie Closson who is MIA in Korea.
