Newport, - Edmond Anthony Arruda, 80, of 14 Clark Street Newport, formerly of Valhalla Drive, Portsmouth from 1984 to 1997, died Thursday, September 19, 2002 at Village House Newport, RI. Born in Portsmouth, RI on November 25, 1921, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Mary Graca Arruda.Mr. Arruda was in the United States Army serving in World War II in Germany. He worked as an orderly and an ambulance driver for the Newport Hospital for 42 years retiring in 1988. He was a member of the V.F.W., Portsmouth. Mr. Arruda was an avid fishermen. He is survived by his son Edmond ?Jack? Arruda of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter Linda M. Kuhn of Warwick, RI, his brother Joseph Arruda of Lowell, MA, two sisters Mary R. Arruda and Josephine A. Arruda both of Portsmouth, RI, his grandson Nicholas Joseph Arruda and his granddaughter Elise Marie Arruda both of Portsmouth, RI. His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2002, at 8:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM, in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport.
