Edmond Jerome ?Jerry? Morris, Jr., 62, of 9 Halsey Street Newport, died Monday, May 27, 2002 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center Newport, RI. Born in Woonsocket, RI on March 9, 1940, he was the son of the late Edmond J. and Margaret V. Graham Morris.Mr. Morris was a mechanical engineer with NUSC. Mr. Morris was a 1957 graduate of Woonsocket High School and a 1961 graduate of URI. He began training with NUSC in 1957 and worked for them his entire life, and retired in 1996. Mr. Morris was an active volunteer for the Sachuest Point Preserve and was one of the founders of the Friends of National Wildlife Refuges of Rhode Island, an organization whose mission to help maintain the park and raise funds for further development of the parks resources. He was also a music enthusiast of both jazz and classical music. He is survived by his son Brendan Cronnel of Loudenville, NY, three daughters, Lisa Sellar of Middletown, RI, Jennifer Cronnel of Newport, RI, Emily Morris of Newport, RI, his brother Paul G. Morris of Woonsocket, RI, and his former wife Barbara Cronnel of Newport, RI. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, 9:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport.
