NEWPORT - EDMUND J. LINCOURT., of 7 Gibson Park Place, Newport, RI, passed away June 6, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family and Senior Helpers after an illness.He was the beloved husband of the late Marguerite V. Baker Lincourt, who passed away in 1997.Born in Newport, RI, on January 14, 1917 to Felix and Rose Lemare Lincourt, he was one of seventeen children.He went to Newport Schools. He served in the Army Air Force for four years during World War II. He was in Belgium, France and England. He was the assistant crew chief mechanic on a P-51 Mustang Fighter plane called the Flying Scot during the war. After the war, he worked at a couple of auto body shops in Newport. He then went to work with his brother, Bill at Lincourts Auto Body Shop until his retirement. He then opened up a golf shop in his backyard greenhouse and enjoyed doing business with old and new friends. Eddie was a people person who loved people. He was always happy and upbeat. His faith and church were very important to him. He was a wonderful son and brother. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that anyone could have. Family was everything to him. We will all miss him.Eddie leaves his daughter, Ann Marie Sullivan and son-in-law, William of Middletown, RI; his four grandchildren, Robert W. Ring and his wife Lisa, Kevin E. Ring, and Suzanne M. Ring, all of Middletown, RI, and Lisa M. Katz and her husband Alan of South Dartmouth, MA. He also leaves ten great grandchildren, Devhan, Brittany, Taylor, Ian, Ashley, Valerie, Sara, Benjamin, Emily and his great granddog Nemo. He also leaves his siblings William Lincourt of Newport, Monica Marcucci and Blanche Matthews of Middletown, Mary Fess of New York, Alice Williams and Henry Lincourt of California.His funeral will be held on Thursday June 11, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009, from 4-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.Memorial donations may be made to Newport Fire Dept., 21 West Marlborough Street, Newport, RI 02840, Senior Helpers of Rhode Island, 60 Quaker Lane, Suite 63, Warwick, RI 02886, or Visiting Nurse Services of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
