Edna Goffe

Middletown, RI - Edna Ferguson Goffe, 89, of 9 Phelps Road, Middletown, died peacefully Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at home.She was the wife of the late George Henry Goffe. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 17, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George and Nellie Kernahan Ferguson.Mrs. Goffe was a graduate of Amsterdam High School, Amsterdam, NY and the Amsterdam School of Commerce. She moved to Newport, RI in 1941. She was a parishioner of Trinity Church and for many years was a church school teacher. Mrs. Goffe was a past Newport Hospital Volunteer. She was a past member of the Newport Yacht Club, the Preservation Society of Newport and the Middletown Historical Society. Mrs. Goffe was a loving homemaker who also loved sailing, swimming and traveling with her daughter. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Susan M. and Andrew Grichtmeier of Middletown, RI, her son Charles F. Marshall Jr., and his wife Dorothy, of Hopewell Junction, NY, her sister Nana Firth of St. Petersburg, FL, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2004, at 10:00 AM in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown.
