Edward Frank Pacheco, age 51, of Portsmouth, died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Newport Hospital. Mr. Pacheco was born December 31, 1963, in Newport, RI. He was the son of Isabel A. (Augustine) Pacheco and the late Edward Pacheco. He was the husband of Mary (Holiday) Pacheco for 32 incredible years. Eddie was a firefighter for 23 years on the Newport Naval Base, retiring in 2013. He was a motivated and hard worker from an early age. He worked hard for his family, putting his whole being into everything he did, whether it was the smallest of jobs or a complete remodeling project. He even built the home he shared with Mary and raised their children in. He was an amazingly talented contractor, renovating several homes. Eddie enjoyed restoring his 1968 Camaro, traveling, scuba diving and snorkeling, and recently taking joy rides with his wife in The Jeep, and watching the Red Sox. But being a firefighter was the only pride he allowed himself aside from his family. He would always downplay everything he did, never allowing anyone to praise him. A true family man, Eddies family always came first, and the true joy of his life was seeing his grandchildrens faces. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.He had a love for all children, taking in all the neighborhood kids, those who had no fathers and becoming their father figure without question. He loved these kids without question and would often play with them with no thought to himself. Kids just flocked to him like the Pied Piper. He is survived by his wife Mary (Holiday) Pacheco, his daughter Megan Pacheco, his son Erik Pacheco and wife Kirstin of Portsmouth, his mother Isabel (Augustine) Pacheco of Middletown, RI, his three siblings, Cheryl Kirker and husband John of Fall River, MA, Roland Banville and wife Marilyn of Tiverton, RI, and Marianne Raymo and husband David of Portsmouth, RI, his two grandchildren, Zachary and Emelie Pacheco of Portsmouth, RI, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his Brethren Fire Fighters of the Naval Fire Department.
