Edward Francis Giblin, JR. Portsmouth, - Edward Francis Giblin, Jr., 84, of 44 Child Street, Portsmouth, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA.He was the husband of the late Marion Louise Murphy Giblin. Born in Fall River, MA, on December 27, 1919, he was the son of the late Edward Francis and Rose Alma Ouellette Giblin. Mr. Giblin had worked as the director for FHA, now Housing and Urban Development, for 38 years, retiring in 1979. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII in the South Pacific. After his retirement from active duty he served in the USNR, retiring from the USS Lionfish in 1978. He was a Communicant of St. Anthonys Church in Portsmouth. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Christopher Rooney Council of Portsmouth. Mr. Giblin had served as treasurer for several years of the Portsmouth Little League. He was a graduate of Durfee High School, Class of 1937, a graduate of Junior College of Commerce in New Haven, CT, and a graduate of the former Thibodeaus Business School. He is survived by three sons Edward F. Giblin III of Portsmouth, RI, Daniel J. Giblin of Portsmouth, RI, and Christopher P. Giblin of Dartmouth, MA, two daughters Diane R.Gardiner of Dartmouth, MA, and Carol G. Farrow of Portsmouth, RI, two sisters Doris Occaso of Newport, RI, and Ruth Matte of Wareham, MA, 10 Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Herbert Giblin.His funeral will be held Saturday, July 3, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
