Edward Gamer

Middletown, RI - Edward Gamer, 74, of Balsam Avenue, Middletown, RI, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in Maui, Haiwaii. He was the husband of Mary Ann Dias Gamer. Born in Newport, RI on April 26, 1934, he was the son of the late William F. and Isabelle Peabody Gamer.Retired from Federal Civil Service, Ed was a United States Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War serving for 5 years. He was a member of the North End Club and NARFE. Besides his wife of 47 years, he is survived by his children, William Gamer of Newport, RI, Janet Andrade and her husband Jay of Middletown, RI and David P. Gamer of Portsmouth, RI; his brother, Charles L. Gamer and his wife Ellen of Windsor, CT; two grandsons, Jason and Nathan Andrade of Middletown, RI and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late William F. and David P. Gamer. His funeral will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial with military honors will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 Richmond Street, Suite 204, Providence, RI 02903.
