Edward Joseph Pado, 91, of 10 Dexter Street, Newport, RI, died April 17, 2012, at Village House Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mary (Reagan) Pado, having been married for 60 years prior to her passing. Born in Donora, PA, on July 9, 1920, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Donick) Pado.Mr. Pado served aboard the Battleship USS Texas during World War II. He worked for 27 years as a firefighter on the Newport Naval Base.He played on the 1939 winning Donora High School baseball team with Stan Musial, his brother Ed Musial, and Joe Griffey, father of Ken Griffey and Ken Griffey, Jr. Ed was a 40 year member of the Wanumetonomy Golf Club, and a life member of the Newport Elks Lodge.He is survived by his sons, Edward and his wife Janet of Newport, and Michael and his wife Linda of Newport and Naples, Maine; his sister, Alma Isaacs of Hummelstown, PA, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His brothers Michael, Thomas, John and George predeceased him. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012, from 9:00-10:00 am, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. His funeral will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012, at 10:00 am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
