Edward John "Ted" Jurista

Edward John (Ted) Jurista, 68, passed away on November 19, 2015 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, comforted by his wife, Diana. Ted was born on August 26, 1947 to Navy Chief Edward A. Jurista and Mary (Gibbons) Jurista in Norfolk, VA. He was the third of eight and the first son. Ted enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and retired in 1975. For the next 33 years he worked at Picker/Gendex and retired from Raytheon in 2008.Ted loved the Chicago Bears, his dogs, and gardening. He enjoyed reading and in his younger years he was always available to help friends with any home improvement projects they may have had. He had a unique talent for building familiar structures out of Legos, including his own home.Ted is survived by his daughters Dawn Nichols and her husband Tony and Denise Ferguson and her husband Mitch; his grandchildren Christopher Doyle and his wife Kara, Justin Galvan, Kama and Sage Ferguson; and great granddaughter Alexandria Doyle. Also surviving are his sisters Mary Anne Sullivan of Portsmouth; Nancy Ardito and her husband Phil of Portsmouth; Janet Ingram of Lowell, MA; Eileen Augustus and her husband Larry of Tyngsboro, MA; brother Alan Jurista and his wife Charlene of Brockton, MA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ted is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary, sister Kathleen, brother James, brothers-in-law Edmund E. Sullivan and Bob Ingram, and niece and goddaughter, Stacy A. Sullivan.The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI in celebration of his life.
