Edward Junior Brant Middletown, RI - Edward Junior Brant, 62, of 3 Colony Drive, Middletown, RI, formerly of 34 Dorothy Avenue, Portsmouth, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at home. He was the husband of June Frances Baker Brant. Born in Detroit, MI, on April 4, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Vivian Yoshmatter Brant.Mr. Brant had worked as a heat mechanic at the US Naval Base for 22 years, retiring in 1991. He had also work at Oxbow Farms as a maintenance man for 16 years until his illness in 2007. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Brant was a member of the Elks Club and the Fleet Reserve. He was also a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Middletown. He was an avid fisherman and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed flowers, birds, and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons John Herman Brant of San Diego, CA, Jeffrey Wayne Brant Sr. of Portsmouth, RI, and Edward Todd Brant of Newport, RI, two daughters Rania Vivian Carvalho of Tiverton, RI, and Robin Lee Free of Middletown, RI, a sister Sharon Vandenyne of Warren, MI, thirteen grandchildren Jeffrey Brant Jr., Edward Brant Jr., Brittany Brant, Devin Carvalho, Avery Carvalho, Tanya Free, David Free Jr., Anthony Brant, Skylee Brant, Katelan Mitchell, Crystal Hedgecorth, Jamon Brant, and Nevaeh Brant, and one great granddaughter Gabriella Brant. He was also the brother of the late Judith Brant.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Cross Church, 1439 West Main Road, Middletown.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
