Edward Mihalick, 93, of Middletown, RI formally of West Hartford, CT entered into eternal rest on Saturday December 29th 2012. Born in Blakely, PA on December 23, 1919, he was the son of the late Anna John Mihalick. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy where he fought in World War II at Normandy in Omaha Beach. His rank was a Motor Machinist Mate, 2nd Class. After serving our country, he met his wife of 64 years, Josephine (Scavetta) Mihalick. They lived in West Hartford for 60+ years where they raised their daughter, Mary Ellen. Ed is survived by his beloved wife Josephine, his daughter Mary Ellen Frazier and her husband Walter of Middletown, RI, his granddaughter Stephanie Frazier Grimm and her husband Paul, and 2 great grandchildren Carter and Ellie Grimm also of Middletown, RI; two sisters Josephine Franceski and her husband Claude, and Dolores Lavriha and also several nieces and nephews. Ed is now joining his brothers and sisters Cy, Helen, Peg, Frank, Joey, Mickey, Jack, Anne, Millie, Stevie.After leaving the Navy, Ed was a career machinist where he worked as an foremen at Smythe Manufacturing and Combustion Engineering, after retiring, he continued his love for fixing things at Coffee Pause. When Ed was not working, he took pride in being the only Dad at his daughter's ballet class, sitting under a tree for hours at Fernridge Park watching his granddaughter swim, playing cards with siblings brother in law Claude whom he loved like a brother, family vacations to Cape Cod, watching Wheel of Fortune, talking about life with his son -in -law Butch whom he had a strong friendship with, being an usher at St. Thomas's Church and cheering on the Red Sox and Patriots. Friends and Family are invited to celebrate his life on Monday January 7th, 2013 at 1pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church located at 872 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donation's in Ed's name can be made to Cluny School, 75 Brenton Rd Newport, RI 02840.
