Edward Nelson Day

Middletown, RI - Edward Nelson Day, 89, of 207 Vernon Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 in Middletown, RI. He was the husband of the late Grace R. Villar Day. Born in Brooklyn, NY on Aug. 5, 1916, he was the son of the late William James and Elizabeth Thompson Day.Mr. Day worked at GAF Corp, for 37 years, as a supervisor in the Sample Department and at Chase Manhattan Bank as an archivist. He was a communicant of St. Marys Chruch. Mr. Day was an aviation and naval historian and an avid NY Yankee fan. Mr. Day was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII. He is survived by his sons William J. Day and his wife Karen of Middletown, RI, and Timothy S. Day of Stamford, CT, his daughter Elizabeth G. Mindlin and her husband Mark of Manhattan, NY, his daughter-in-law Brigitte Day of Staten Island, NY, and his grandson Liam Sean Day of Providence, RI. He was the father of the late Edward J. Day. His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2006, at 8:00a.m., from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00a.m., in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
