Portsmouth, RI- Edward Pacheco, 90, of 44 West Main Road, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown, RI surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Isabel "Betty" (Augustine) Pacheco. Born in Westport, MA on February 6, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank and Delina (Gendron) Pacheco. Mr. Pacheco was a US Army veteran of World War II. He spent his younger years working for P.T. Barnum Circus as a concessioner. He spent most of his life as a painter, retiring from the Newport Naval Base. He also performed custodial services at the Portsmouth Town Hall and the Portsmouth Police Station. Edward was well known in the area for his cotton candy and candy apple concession truck featured at many area venues. An avid reader, he also enjoyed vegetable gardening, but most of all, Edward enjoyed spending time with his family.In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his children, Cheryl Kirker and her husband Johnny of Fall River, MA, Roland Banville and his wife Marilyn of Portsmouth, RI, Edward F. Pacheco and his wife Mary of Portsmouth, RI, and Marianne Raymo and her husband David of Portsmouth, RI; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Alton Pacheco and his sister, Virginia Griffin. He was predeceased by his siblings, Frank Pacheco, Lillian Williams, Mary Sherman, Annie McKenzie, Marion Sherman, and Richard Pacheco.A memorial service in his honor will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 1:00 pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
