Middletown, RI - Edward R.M. Quigley, 83, of 77 West Main Road, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI, where he was cared for the last two months of his life. He was the husband of Anne E. Daly Quigley. Born in Fall River, MA on May 4, 1923, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Sophie Budziak Quigley.Mr. Quigley attended Holy Cross Polish School in Fall River and was a graduated of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, Class of 1941. He also attended the former Durfee Institute of Technology also in Fall River. He was a salesman for the former R. A. Wilcox Co. in Fall River and later worked as a photographer for the Newport Daily News. During World War Ii he worked at the former Newport Naval Torpedo and Training Station. He was an early member of the Fall River Junior Chamber of Commerce and a long-time member of Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth and was happy when he scored his hole-in-one. He was an avid reader and history buff and loved his classical music. He spoke several languages and was an active interpreter and translator in Polish both in Rhode Island and Poland. He visited Poland, his mother?s homeland, many times and was very proud of his Polish heritage. Besides his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his children Jeanne Q. Dunn and her husband Thomas of Hebron, KY, Robert Chip Haveron and his wife Beth Haveron of Royersford, PA, John M. Quigley of Philadelphia, PA, Michael S. Quigley of Sebastopol, CA, his sisters Ellen Q. Sweeney and her husband Gordon Sweeney of Newport, and Mary Spillecki and her husband Frank of Manchester, CT. ?Poppa? is also survived by six grandchildren, Matthew, Maureen, and Martin Dunn, Sarah and Malcolm Quigley and Tiffany Haveron and great-granddaughter Peyton Nicole Dunn. He also leaves four nieces, one great-niece and three great-nephews. He was the godfather of the late Jeffrey Sweeney. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, from 4-7 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
