Edward Van Rensseler Thomas

Newport, - Edward Van Rensseler Thomas, 93, of Heatherwood Health Care Center Newport, died Friday, August 13, 2004 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Mabel E. White Thomas. Born in Newport, RI on May 31, 1911, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Collins Thomas. Mr. Thomas had worked as a night supervisor for the Newport Navy YMCA, for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a lifelong resident of Aquidneck Island. Mr. Thomas was a member of Community Baptist Church, where he also served as a former usher and trustee. Mr. Thomas was a World War II Army Veteran. He is survived by his brother William Thomas of Newport, RI, his sister Anna Kelly of Newport, RI, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Thomas was the brother of the late Joseph Thomas, George Thomas, Patrick Thomas, Ella Anderson, Catherine Thomas, Ruth Thomas and Peggy Tenerio.Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 11:00 am in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
