Eileen G. Bowley Nimmo, 91, of Third Street, Newport, RI, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Newport Hospital.She was the wife of the late William Nimmo, Jr., Captain, Newport Police Department, Retired.Born in Newport, RI on January 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Bill Bowley, who was the blacksmith in Newport for over 50 years, and the late Ellen Sullivan Bowley.For most of her life, Mrs. Nimmo was the daughter of a blacksmith, a legal secretary, a social worker and a real estate broker. She was a member of the Newport Preservation Society, a member of Greenlight of the Point, and a member of St. Josephs Church. An acclaimed writer, she authored the book The Point of Newport. In addition, she was a devoted wife and loving mother to her son. She is survived by her son, William B. Nimmo and his wife Cheryl of Riverside, RI, a grandson, Jeffrey Brown of Crystal Beach, FL, and a niece, Rebecca Andrews of Lake Tahoe, CA. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 9 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport.
