Eleanor Fales Hibbert, beloved wife of James J. Hibbert of Fort Myers, FL and Tiverton, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Lee Memorial Health Park in Fort Myers, FL surrounded by members of her loving family. Ellie is the daughter of the late John R. Fales and Barbara Bolster Fales, sister of Nancy B. Fales of Tiverton, RI and was preceded in death by her brother John R. Fales, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI. Besides her mother and sister, she is survived by her sons: Jameson F. Chace, Ph.D. daughter-in-law Tara and granddaughters Wyndom and Tori of Wickford, RI, Richmond N. Chace daughter-in-law Nancy and granddaughters Phoebe and Claire of Bristol, RI, and her stepsons: Todd M. Hibbert daughter-in-law Julie and granddaughter Carly of Tiverton, RI, Bradford J. Hibbert daughter-in-law Erica of Portsmouth, RI, Curtis J. Hibbert daughter-in-law Donna, grandson Mitchell and granddaughter Shelby and Gregory K. Hibbert of Tiverton, RI.Born in Providence, Ellie was a graduate of Lincoln School 1960, Colby Sawyer College 1962 and Katherine Gibbs 1963. She had been employed by Simmons College, Boston, MA, Hawkins and Fales Inc., Bristol, RI, Pearson Yachts Corp., Portsmouth, RI, and retired from Little Harbor Yacht Sales, Portsmouth in 1996. An avid lifelong sailor, accomplished skier, tennis player and champion golfer, Ellie was also a Junior Maine Guide 1959. She enjoyed traveling with friends on whitewater rafting trips in Colorado and Maine, sea kayaking in Alaska, sailing the Lesser Antilles, and exploring the Amazon and Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. She was a past member of the Junior League of Providence and the Tiverton Young Womens Community Club. At the time of her death, she was a member of Allendale Country Club, Dartmouth, MA, where she had served as a board member of the Womens Golf Association, and concurrently was a member of the Lexington Country Club, Fort Myers, FL, where she served several terms as president of the Lexington Ladies Golf Association.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 10:00 am, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
