Eleanor G. Weston

Eleanor G. (Jenkins) Weston, 90, of Middletown died Monday, July 13, 2015 at home.She was the wife of the late Ernest Weston.Born on October 3, 1924, in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Ruth (Jenkins) Carpenter. Mrs. Weston was a native Newporter. She worked at the Naval Hospital as a nursing assistant until her retirement. She was a member of the Harriet Tubman Order of Elks in Newport and later became a lifetime member of the Elks at Susan Sullavou Temple in New Bedford. She was a volunteer foster Grandmother and was an avid seamstress. She is survived by her sister Dolores A. Means of Orlando, FL, her aunt Sarah Jenkins of Newport, a host of nieces and nephews, and her extended family from her late husband Ernest Weston.She was the mother of the late William Miles, and sister of the late John D. Carpenter, Jr., Ellis G. Carpenter, Grace Smith, Ruth Evangelista and Laura Collier.Funeral services will be private.Donations may be made in her memory in honor of her siblings and son, may be made to American Cancer Society of Rhode Island, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
