Newport, RI-Eleni Vaka Vouras, of Division St, Newport RI died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Newport Hospital surrounded by her family.She was the wife of the late Zacharias A. VourasBorn in Skoura, Greece on March 15, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Andreas and Angeliki VakaShe is survived by her daughter Angela of Newport RI and her son Andrew and his companion Amintha Cinotti of Middletown RI.She was the mother of the late Carol Z. VourasShe married her husband Zacharias in Greece in 1939, but was stranded in Greece by the outbreak of World War II. Eleni and her daughter were reunited with her husband in Newport after the war in 1946.Eleni assisted with the operation of the family restaurant, the Perry Mill Diner, on Thames and Cannon Streets. A proud homemaker and mother, she enjoyed gardening, reading and baking Greek pastries.She was an active church parishioner, a member of the St Syridons Philoptochos Society and was an active volunteer for the annual church festival.
