Elinor May Brannack

Portsmouth, RI - Elinor M. Brannack, 76, of East Main Road, Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at home. Born in Middletown, CT on February 4, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Kennis and Pauline Otte Brannack. Ms. Brannack was Retired LCDR in the United States Navy, serving in the Nurses Corp for 20 years. She was a member and the first woman Commander in the history of the Portsmouth American Legion #18 where she also served as their chaplin. She was also a member of the New England Chapter of Retired Navy Nurses. She also volunteered at the Robert Potter League. Ms. Brannack was a member of Holy Cross Church and its St. Martha?s Guild She is survived by her sister Shirley B. Boothroyd of The Villages, FL, many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Irving Brannack, Kennis Brannack Jr., Lorretta Phillips, Helen Bergman and Jeanette Ricci. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2004, 10:00 AM in Holy Cross Church, 1439 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown, CT, on Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 10:00AM. Donations may be made in her memory to the Robert Potter League For Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840 or to the Holy Cross Church, 1439 West Main Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
