Elisa T. Sullivan

Elisa T. (Boiani) Sullivan, age 77, of Newport died Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Village House Nursing Home of Newport, RI. Mrs. Sullivan was born April 25, 1935 in Newport, RI, to the late Savino and Carmela (Maggioli) Boiani. She was married to Joseph J. Sullivan for 59 years.Mrs. Sullivan attended Hazard Memorial and St. Catherine's Schools, graduating in 1952. She worked for Sciarotta Silversmiths on Chapel Street for many years. She performed domestic duties for Mrs. Elizabeth Blake for several years, before working as the house manager for the Auchincloss family at Hammersmith Farm for the last thirty-five years. Elisa loved to travel, especially to Italy, her parents' native land. She enjoyed collecting antiques, playing the piano and harp, painting, and going to the beach where she enjoyed boogie boarding. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Diane Furtado of Middletown, RI, Her son Joseph Sullivan and his wife Melinda of Buffalo, NY, her son Michael Sullivan of Newport, RI, her brother Leo Boiani and his wife Doris of Newport, RI, her sister Yolanda Boiani of Portsmouth, RI, her sister Carol McManus and her husband Robert of Portsmouth, RI, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren with another on the way.She was predeceased by her brothers, Aldo, Alfred, Eugene, and Benito Boiani.The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 9 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will be in Island Annex Cemetery, Newport.Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
