PORTSMOUTH, RI - Elisabeth Neser Curren wife of George F. Curren, of 20 Indian Avenue, #18 Georgetown Apartments, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at home. Born in Burlington, VT on January 17, 1921, she was the daughter of George Neser and Maria Rennemiere Neser. She attended school at Mt. St. Mary Academy and University of Vermont, where she majored in Elementary Education. She worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph for 3 years and Northeast Airlines from 1945 through 1947. There she met and married her husband George Curren August 11, 1947. They settled first in Somerville and then Melrose, MA where their 3 sons Thomas, Christopher and Michael attended grammar school. Elisabeth worked at Melrose Wakefield Hospital from 1960 through 1966, and Melrose Public Schoos from 1967 through 1979, where she was a tutor in the learning center at Melrose High School. In 1979 she and her husband moved to Plymouth, New Hampshire where she was employed at The New Hampton School from 1979 through 1987 as Coordinator of Learning Disabled Students. In retirement Elisabeth and her husband moved to Hendersonville North Carolina, Great Barrington, MA and Portsmouth, RI. Elisabeth leaves her husband of fifty-seven years George F. Curren of Portsmouth, RI, and sons Thomas Curren Danbury, NH, Christopher Curren of Jamestown, RI, and Michael Curren of Reading, MA. She also leaves five grandchildren, Molly Curren of Somerville, MA, Timothy Curren of Reading, MA, Becca Curren of Danbury, NH, Maura Curren and Brenna Curren both of Reading, MA.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 8, 2004, at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Barnabas Church Building Fund, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
