PORTSMOUTH, RI Elizabeth Sis A. DeSantis Reed, 71, of 11 Donna Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at home. She was the wife of John D. Reed. Born in Newport, RI on November 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ruth Delavergne DeSantis. Sis was a 1951 graduate of Rogers High School and worked for a short time before getting married and raising a family. She returned to the work force in 1969 as Director of Human Resources, at the Hilton Hotel, the Sheraton Hotel, and the Treadway Inn and then retired from the Newport Convention and Vistors Beureau as the Tours and Convention Manager. Sis was a member of AARP Newport Chapter and had served on the Board of Directors, while working with the Festa Italiano Festival she chaired many different committees. She enjoyed reading a good book and walking around town. Besides her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her children Jay Reed of Newport, RI, Jeffrey Reed of Deerfield Beach, FL, Pam Reed and Susan Reed both of Newport, RI, and Carrie Reed-Coupe of Swaziland, Africa, her granddaughter Michaela Reed-Coupe of Swaziland, Africa, her brother Michael Anthony DeSantis of Tampa, FL, and her sister Jeanette Bush of Newport, RI. She was the sister of the late Leonard J. DeSantis Jr. Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 5, 2005, at 11:00 AM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2005, from 4-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, Rhode Island. Donations in Elizabeths name may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol County, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
