Princeton, NJ - Elizabeth F. Connell Dye, 99, of Newport, RI, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at the home of her daughter Evelyn in Princeton, NJ.She was the wife of the late James W. Dye. Born in Port Glasgow, Scotland, on February 16, 1905, she was the daughter of the late William and Anne Frieborn Connell.Mrs. Dye resided in Newport for over sixty years. The Edgehill Farm and Twomley Estate as part of their greenhouse staff formerly employed her. Mrs. Dye was also was a recreation leader with the Association for Retarded Citizens in Newport. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newport having served as both an Elder and Deacon and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Quilters and Naomi Circle. She was also an active community volunteer for the Newport Y.M.C.A., and the Caledonians. She is survived by two daughters Evelyn A. Gill and her husband George of Princeton, NJ, and Betty C. Haymon and her husband Roger, her son George W. Dye and his wife Evelyn, her grandson James A. Gill and his wife Gabriela, her grandson Scott G. Gill and his wife Tara, her granddaughter Heather Plati and her husband Josh, her granddaughter Sarah J. Haymon and her grandson James R. Haymon, her great grandson Adam R. Gill and a sister in law Evelyn Dye McPhee. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 11:00 AM in First Presbyterian Church, Broadway And Everett, Newport. Burial will be in Island Cemetery in Newport.
