Elizabeth Frances ?Betty? CrosbyNEWPORT, RI - Elizabeth Frances ?Betty? Crosby, 86, of 8 Sagamore Street, Newport, RI, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in New York, NY, on July 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late James and Frances Dervin Crosby. Ms. Crosby had worked as an administrative officer, Department of the Navy, Naval War College, for 45 years, retiring in 1985. She was a Communicant of St. Josephs Church, where she was also a member of the Rosary Sodality. Ms. Crosby was a Graduate of Providence College, Class of 1977, earning a BA in Education. She had also attended St. Joseph Church Grammar School and High School. In 1985, she received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award, and in 1977, she was voted the Rhode Island Federal Employee of the Year. She is survived by a brother Dr. James Crosby DDS of Niceville, FL, a sister Gladys M. Crosby of Newport, RI, two nephews Kevin Crosby and James Crosby both of Texas, and a niece Colleen Dearmin of New Mexico. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at 9:30 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 8:30AM-9:30AM in the Memorial Funeral Home.
