Elizabeth Holmes Ottilige Rogers, 80, died Saturday, September 26, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.Born in Newport on August 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Ottilige and Aimee Taylor Ottilige.She retired from the telephone company Verizon after over 45 years in both Newport and Fall River, MA. She loved spending time with her family and her pets, working in her garden and traveling. She was a veteran of 30 cruises, the last being to Alaska the month before her passing. She was a communicant of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth and worked in and managed their thrift shop for many years. For several years she was also a missionary for the church, serving tours in the Windward Islands, the Dominican Republic and Brazil. She is survived by her children, Charles Rogers, of Newport, and Aimee and Cynthia Rogers of Portsmouth, with whom she lived, five grandchildren, Eric Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Tracy Rogers, Brian Rogers and Alicia Rogers, and four great grandchildren, Summer Rogers, Brooke Rogers, Hunter Rogers and Tyler Rogers, and her brother James E. Ottilige, of Middletown. She was the mother of Kerry Diane Rogers, who predeceased her and the sister of the late Charles W. Ottilige, Jr. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at 1:00pm in St. Marys Episcopal Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth, with burial to follow.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Connors Funeral Home at 55 West Main Road, in Portsmouth.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
