Elizabeth Jane "Betty" (Samuelian) Perry, 66, of Middletown. Betty was a cancer survivor and died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Newport Hospital. She was born one of twelve children, in Providence, RI, on January 30, 1949 and was the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Lamont) Samuelian.She worked in several restaurants in the Newport area, but most people know her as Betty the best known waitress at the Canton Restaurant. As a single parent she was a hard worker sometimes working three jobs at a time to support her four children.Betty leaves behind her long-time companion John Silvia and her life-long friend Joe Affonso.She also leaves her three daughters Tammy Ann Pires and her husband Robert of Portsmouth, Ronda Sue Bivens and her husband Wayne of Louisville, KY, and Allison Elizabeth Whitelatch and her husband Brian of Middletown, RI, her sister Linda Samuelian, her grandchildren Andy Muss, Matthew Perry, April Muss, Kayla Bivens, Dalton Banting, Forrest Whitelatch and Kieran Whitelatch as well as her great grandchildren, Keelie Bryant, Daylen Bryant, Legend Taylor, Waylon Perkins, Trinity Muss, Gage Muss and Blaze Muss.Elizabeth was the mother of the late Michelle Renee Banting and grandmother of the late Tyler Bivens.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015, from 4-7:30pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a service at 7:30pm.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Middletown, RI 02842.
